A little about Team MSG Istanbul...

Cindy's Baking Angels would like to thank Melanie Lowe for referring her son, Alan, for our Angel support this month! Our Angels will take very good care of him and his Buddies.

Melanie shares, "Alan was in JROTC all 4 years of high school. He participated in the Drill Team, Color Guard and the Raider Team. He always knew he wanted to join the Marine Corps and so he entered the Delayed Entry Program while he was a senior in high school. He shipped to Parris Island in August of 2021 and graduated as a PFC in November. He then went to Camp Gieger for ITB and MSG School at Quantico, where he was promoted to Lance Corporal in May 2022 and graduated in July 2022. He was assigned to his first post at the U. S. Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey where he is currently serving as a Watchstander with a small detachment of Marines there."

"U.S. Marine Security Guards have worked closely with the State Department and DSS for more than six decades to protect and safeguard people, property, and sensitive information at U.S. embassies and consulates around the world," adds Melanie.

Melanie writes, "In his free time, Alan likes drawing, watching movies, and going into the city to take in the history, culture and the amazing food! But after nearly 6 months in Turkey, he says is starting to miss the food back home and really would love some homemade cookies! We are so very proud of Alan and miss him so much!"

** News from Alan and his Buddies!

Alan writes, "Thank you so much for all the goodies that you have sent to my detachment! Everyone loves the treats and other snacks, not to mention the pillow cases which were fought over because they were liked so much with the cool designs. I am sure all of the guys will be enjoying themselves and happy to know that there are people back home sending some love. Some of the other Marines including myself are happy to receive paper and pencils/color pencils and are looking forward to getting creative! It was pretty hard to get a group picture with everyone in it due to everybody working different shifts and were sleeping but I managed to get a picture with a couple of the guys. Once again, thank you so much!"
